About "Making a Show" at Grangegorman Campus in Dublin, June 2017

On her graduate show Monika created elaborate human scale puppets, embroidery, silk curtains, costumes incorporating drawings, oil paintings made into a wearable dresses in order to describe a narrative. Each painting was inspired by the book ‘ Eve ‘ written by WM. Paul Young by using the ideas and scenarios created in the book to create paintings. These wearables and costumes, then featured in a film performance work. Her choreography for the performance is based on the compassionate exchange and moving experience inspired by writings of Virginia Woolf, ‘Woolf Works‘. Each of the three acts spring from one of the Wolf’s novels with elements of her letters performed by The Royal Ballet.
Monika was awarded recently by:
A4 Sounds Gallery DIT Graduate Award
RHA Gallery Peer Residency
Monika is one of 13 successful exhibiting artists for the 2017 RDS Visual Art Award
